Raipur Power Gen has developed a New concept of WHRB( Waste Heat Recovery Boiler) from sponge Iron Kiln.
In General Sponge Iron Kiln we have for example 100tpd( tones per day ) that generates 24,000 cum/hr hot gases at 950degC to be used for WHRB to produce steam of 10 tph (tones per hour ) , 64ata, 485degC with each boiler attached with 100 tpd Sponge Iron Kiln .
We know in this we would need 3 WHRB’s would be needed under 3 separate kiln.
In the new concept that RPG has developed we have combined 3X100 tpd sponge from Hot Gas duct in one WHRB (waste heat recovery boiler) having isolation slide gate (water cooled ) at inlet of hot duct on riser side.
This slide valve can withstand temperature upto 1600degC and by valve controlling we can control the pressure inside the kiln if necessary.
After combining all the three duct’s in one WHRB we can get waste gas of 3X24000cum/hr & corresponding steam generation 30 tph (tonne per hour) for running steam turbine generator. And now if one kiln is under shutdown we are providing pulverized coal nozzle to generate more gas vice versa we would get more steam from waste heat boiler. The coal nozzles and slide gates valves are imported.
The Operation of this kind of a project under my guidance will begin from JUNE 09.
For which boilers are under erecting stage.
The total design and concept has been verified by boiler design experts.
We sincerely and firmly believe and wish that we will achieve success in our developmental project and in future times this can be used with coal dust in plant for recycle.

Nice article. Why not you mail us the same article to eaofindia@gmail.com. as we are currently collecting materials from various engineering field. If its chosen among one of the best articles then our association based in delhi can send you some gift. In anyway your material will be helpful to some upcoming engineer even if it fails to acheive some prize. Its purely optional. Take care and reply back soon.

sir your concept is so good...
but sir i found one drawback that is after doing such a process the life of boiler is decrease.. that is harmful for power generation system..
Dear Sunil,
This is a waste heat Boiler the flew gas from Klin generally is from one Klin only. In our case we are combining 3 X 100TPD Klin gas flow to one chamber so it will have no effect on the boiler waste heat is a dummy boiler depending on quantity of gas flow only. I do not understand your Doubt on our Boiler/ generation

Sir i ve one doubt, in my company there are 6 Kiln of 500TPD & the waste heat generation from each kiln is arround 68000-70000 m3/hrs.with temp. 980 *C but in one WHRB the steam generation is very less it is around 20-22T/hrs.but in rest it is more than 30-32T/hrs.The coal we r using is of 28%FC & 46% Ash., VM 24-26%.Can u guide y it is so less? any specific reason..so that i can concentrate & improve.
Dear Piyush Singh,
Please let us know the following points regarding your Power plant which are as follows: -
1. Location of the Power plant.
2.Coal analysis.
3. coal input in 500TPD Klin/day.
4. Sponge Iron Matelization.
5. each Klin cellar fan capacity & Total numbers.
6. total design concept of 500 TPD Klin Consultant drawings (P&ID)of the Klin.
7. P&ID Of WHRB Boiler.
At last we would request you to send all your details on our E-Mail ID: - raipurpowergen@rediffmail.com.
Thanks & Regards.
